The restaurant is run by a man called Phim who is both the waiter and chef. He was very blunt and fat shamed us, spoke about our skin being oily and then also called us young and beautiful. He gave us lots of unsolicited advice and did not seem to realise that he had made us feel very uncomfortable. He talked at us for a long time and did not leave us alone to eat. I’m not sure if this was because we were all young women or because one of us were Thai but either way it was a very uncomfortable experience. It’s a shame as the food was very good, but we did not finish it as we wanted to leave as soon as possible. Food: 4 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Price per person: £20–30

What an absolute hidden gem! We booked Pim’s for my mum’s 60th birthday lunch, with a private party of 12, and from start to finish it was a fantastic experience. The food was incredible! Everything was freshly cooked to order, beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Every single guest commented on how amazing and quirky it was. What really makes Pim’s special, though, is Pim. He creates such a warm, welcoming atmosphere and genuinely cares that everyone has a wonderful time. We were able to play his excellent and eclectic selection of vinyl records throughout the evening, which made it feel so personal and relaxed. He even made a personalised card and graphic image for my mum which wa such a beautiful personal touch! The real highlight of the night though, was when Pim made up a personalised birthday song for my mum on the spot, followed by an equally hilarious song about her beloved not fat, (but actually very fat!) cat, Ms Kittie! It was such a thoughtful, funny and unforgettable touch that had everyone smiling and laughing! The whole evening felt intimate, authentic and full of heart. It wasn’t just a meal; it was an experience. If you’re looking for somewhere special for a birthday, family celebration or private gathering in Cardiff, I honestly can’t recommend Pim’s highly enough. And the biggest compliment I can give? My mum is notoriously hard to please, and even she said she had a wonderful birthday and felt really special. Thank you, Pim, for making such an important occasion so memorable. Pim's@icookthai is literally run by one man: Pim himself. He is your chef, waiter, and entertainer, all rolled into one delightful and neat Thai package. The restaurant feels like a cozy living room, with seating for a maximum of about 14 people. We pre-ordered our dishes, and Pim came around to double-check them before whisking off to the kitchen. The Chicken Satay was stunning, and the Thai Green Curry was a pot of perfection. After the delicious meal, Pim seamlessly transforms from chef to entertainer. He picks up the guitar, and you take the mic for karaoke, creating a warm atmosphere full of good vibes. This place is more than just a meal—it's an experience.
