Highly recommend! I am not a fan of sushi but went with friends. I ordered the pork dumplings and they were the best I had ever had! I enjoyed them so much that I returned the next night with my husband and ordered them again! Everyone at our table enjoyed their food and drinks! Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 3 Order type: Dine in Price per person: $10–20

We celebrated my 40th birthday at Umami with our little family party of five, kids included, and it was such a wonderful experience! I have celiac disease and a shellfish allergy, so dining out can sometimes feel overwhelming. We made reservations more than a week in advance and contacted the restaurant with questions about the menu, and everyone was incredibly helpful. Our server, who is a senior at LSU, was an absolute sweetheart! She was friendly, patient, and never once made me feel like my 1,000 gluten questions were an inconvenience. We definitely kept her busy with all our questions and modifications, but she never hesitated to double-check with the chef to make sure everything was safe for me. The menu was amazing, the quality of the fish was excellent, and the atmosphere made my birthday dinner feel so special. Now that my son is attending LSU, we’ll be spending plenty of time in Baton Rouge and Umami will absolutely be one of our regular stops. We can’t wait to return! Umami Japanese Bistro is hands down my favorite restaurant in Baton Rouge. The sushi is always incredibly fresh, and their alcohol selection is amazing. As someone who’s Vietnamese, it honestly means a lot to walk into a place that represents the Asian community so well. The atmosphere, the food, everything just feels right. Definitely a must go spot in BR. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
