You know what they say that the "third times the charm?" Well, it really was for me because the first izakaya I went to had no more counter seat so I was turned away, the second place nearby said they're busy so food might come out slowly. I asked how slow, like an hour? And the worker grimaced so I took that as a yes. Decided to walk uphill a little more towards Yamata and let me say that it was the right choice and meant to be. I had a wonderful night here. Masaru san the owner kindly suggested I get only 2 pieces when I ordered 4, which is what was on the menu, because he was concerned I wouldn't be able to finish it all. No joke, their karaage are the size of my hand. I ended up chatting with his regular customers, who were all surprised that I came to Iejima just on a whim. When the owner closed shop we all went to a karaoke snack bar and drank some more and sang some songs. I look forward to visiting Iejima again someday!
