Was just looking for a night cap before hitting the onsen and ended up in this nondescript little joint off in a side alley. Blink and you would miss it. Operated by an elderly couple who looked like they were just cleaning up and closing. When I pointed at the whisky behind the counter, the kindly old gentleman handed me the bottle with a bucket of ice and a glass and indicated I should help myself to it. He then proceeded to crack macadamia nuts one by one, eating one then placing the next one in a basket in front of me. Every time I poured and showed it to him, he didn't seem to notice or bother. All said and done, the damage was only Y1500 ! Now if only every bar in the world operated with such a laissez faire attitude !
