Great receptive people, especially the guy working the counter. Kept my 2nd meal warm while I at my first meal. Fish bit oily for my tastes but the burgers were extremely good, especially given the price. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: £10–20

I've lived in Steyning since 2018 and have watched what is now BIG FISH on the High Street change from the old fishmongers into what was once a really good fish and chip shop, with great food and friendly service. Sadly, in my opinion, things have steadily gone downhill under the current ownership. Over the last few years I've noticed card payments being stopped, prices increasing and, personally, I don't think the quality is what it used to be. Despite that, I've continued to support the business. Around three months ago I ordered a meal deal advertised at £8.00, only to be told at the till it was actually £8.50. I accepted that mistakes happen and that keeping prices updated isn't always easy for a small business. Today, however, there were brand new glossy posters advertising meal deals at £8.00, including a quarter chicken, chips and a drink. When I ordered it, I was told they no longer do quarter chicken, only half chicken. I then ordered a quarter-pounder meal that was also advertised at £8.00, only to be told again that it was actually £8.50. I politely mentioned that this had happened before and suggested the advertised prices should be updated. The response completely took me by surprise. The man serving me, who I believe is the owner, raised his voice in front of other customers and staff and said, "Why were you looking there? You should have been looking at the board!" For me, it wasn't about the extra 50p—it was about advertising one price and charging another, then being spoken to like that for pointing it out. After supporting the business for years, that experience has convinced me I won't be going back. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Price per person: £10–20
