Great Little pub, in a lovely setting and a big garden. That hasn't changed a lot over the years. Food is sadly very average and it's a shame because with a few very simple changes it could be good. My burger with great chips was all brilliant except for the 'patty' . It was a cheap, over cooked leathery disc of something. Totally spoiled what was a really well put together burger. It would have been so easy to have just pressed some mince together with a bit of seasoning.. hey presto.. a smash burger! Why oh why do people buy these awful 'burgers' when they can be made so easily is beyond me. Anyway rant over . Go to The Boat Inn it's a really good pub, just don't expect great food. Food: 3 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £20–30

Terrible!!! Zero stars if I could. I had booked a table for Sunday lunch for 2 of us. Arrived and the man on the bar was rude and grumpy. Served a wine in a dirty glass. Went to our reserved table with no cutlery. Ordered and paid at the bar for two Sunday carvery lunches. Was given a table number and told someone would get us when it was ready. The grumpy man poked his head around the corner twice and saw us sat there with our number. 45 minutes later and no food. Went to ask, and was told the chefs had packed up and there was no food left as the barman had "forgotten" to tell them we were there. No apology, just a shrug of the shoulders. He then proceeded to rant about how he was close to walking out as he hated working there and management were awful. No offer of a complimentary drink or even a bag of crisps! We had driven 20 miles to get there for a belated birthday lunch, and left ravenous. Absolutely horrific service.

we didn’t eat so i can’t rate the food but what a glorious garden and smashing old style pub by the canal. I fear for this kind of place because hospitality businesses need people to go and spend money! this is tucked out of the way but very well worth the visit - landlady is a lovely lady! Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Other Price per person: £10–20
