We love the food at Bonchon, but unfortunately we will not be coming back to this location. We arrived at 6:15pm, after having placed a take out order at 5:40pm. Upon arrival, there were at least five other groups waiting for their orders. The service was incredibly rude - when it was my turn, I let the person at the front know I had a pick up order via Uber Eats, and under what name. They proceeded to look at the receipts (did not even check the orders that were prepared and waiting), and went to the back. When they came back to the front, they did not say anything. When I asked how long it would be, all I was told was “it’ll be a while”. I was extremely confused since my app already said that my order was ready. Three other people arrived while I was waiting and received the same response. When another worker came from the kitchen, I asked them if any of the orders that were already prepared were mine. Sure enough, ours was already ready, just sitting there this whole time. What was incredibly frustrating was the lack of due diligence, and the seeming negligence of the orders coming in. Just extremely frustrated with the service we experienced today - I understand that dinner time is busy, but unnecessary stress could have been avoided on all sides. Korean fried chicken is no stranger to the food scene in the American diet. This chain is doing us all a great favor by serving a superb alternative to Popeyes or simple southern fried chicken joints. The biggest issue I'd have is the bibimbap that doesn't come with traditional Korean pickled vegetable sides - what gives! Hey Bonchon, don't settle and don't cave using Americanized ingredients on your Korean iconic dish! I stand hesitant in even submitting this review for rather peculiar reason. Bonchon South Riding is hidden..... so hidden that for the first time in my life, I got to eat at a restaurant like the entire space is reserved just for me. Is this how the obscenely-powerful or uber-famous people dine and how it feels? It's not a dining option actually offered by Bonchon as it's a side-effect of doing tremendous takeout business. I think we saw 10-20 takeout orders during my entire time dining in. Ok back to the chicken. It's delicious, I need not say anything more and remember not to compromise on the bibimbap or any other iconic dish. Hello J C we sincerely appreciate your kind and honest review. Although, like you said we do mostly have take-out as our primary business, we still strive to offer a superb dine-in experience. Also just as a heads up, even though we may not use all the traditional ingredients, we still offer the traditional option of dolsot bibimbap. If you decide to come visit us again, this is something you can ask our servers for. We hope to see you again sometime soon!
