We will not be returning to this establishment after one of the owners, Andrew, was aggressive, rude and totally unprofessional with one of our group on Saturday night. We will be sure to let everyone we know to avoid going there. Thankfully, The Happy Wombat, just down the street, was a much more pleasant experience. Service: 1

Dear Leigh Buttsworth, you were observed by multiple people using aggressive and abusive language toward a young female member of our staff due to a service delay. Our venue enforces a strict zero tolerance policy on staff harassment and it was dealt with accordingly. Please be advised that your details will be shared with management at The Happy Wombat to ensure the ongoing safety and protection of hospitality workers in our community.

Jake is a lovely host! Really appreciate his hospitality, especially with a mix up at the start of our night! Excellent cocktails, excellent service, would recommend to anyone in Newcastle! Price per person: A$20–40 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Really disappointing experience overall. We were super excited to check out Charlies Rooftop - it looked fun and fresh. The experience ended up being a perfect example of how different portrayals on social media can be to reality. When we arrived, we weren’t even sure if the door person worked there. They were so disinterested and we said hello only assuming they worked there because why else would you stand in a doorway awkwardly like that. None of the staff said anything to us at all when we walked in. It was a chore to order a cocktail and took a long time, we were as good as invisible to the bar staff. The bar was not busy. Unfortunately for us when our chilli margs arrived they tasted like actual fire and took a long time to drink. We ended up there until close and the staff let us know this by turning the lights on but not saying a word. We looked over to the bar staff and one of them just smirked at us. No one said a word to us as we were leaving and we ended up locked in! Price per person: A$20–40 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
