Nice Pub Area, Grand Staff, Rooms were clean and well kept bed was comfortable, the water pressure was a tad non existent but not a big deal. Definitely will visit again in the future. Price per person: £20–30

Visited today for a quick lunch whilst travelling on the M5. Great staff, good pub food. Drawings and pens for our 1 year old and a play area outside. Would recommend for your pit stop. Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4

I attended your establishment this afternoon (12.30 Sunday 18th Jan), on arrival, I was informed that ALL tables were reserved for "immediate use". Our party of 5 sat near the pool table and ordered food, included in this order were "extra roast potatoes", when the food arrived, I was informed that they were "already on the plate", rather than them being served separately as they have previously, I found that there were only 2 more small potatoes "extra" than on another roast dinner that had been ordered....this is shameful, given the charge for extra potatoes. My "cowboy burger" was dripping with grease, making the burger bun soggy and impossible to pick up.. During the meal, our party were not approached at any time to check if everything was satisfactory, it was also during this time that it became apparent that the majority of the "reserved" tables were still unoccupied. I can appreciate that tables may be booked by parties that then do not attend, however, if tables are "reserved" for example for 15.00hrs, surely customers can use the table if they arrive at 12.30 rather than having to push tables and chairs together themselves. Having completed the meal, deserts were ordered via the app, after 20 mins I approached bar staff, I was informed "they're coming out now", after another 12 mins (32 mins in total) I again approached staff and requested to cancel the order, suddenly, two members of staff quickly appeared with the deserts....no apology or explanation. 3 of the deserts were barely warm and had obviously been left standing. I have been visiting The Crown for a number of years, despite it being a 40-minute drive away. I can honestly say that this was the worst service I've experienced, the pub wasn't overly busy, but the staff seemed overwhelmed with the few customers that were present. Hopefully, your establishment can return to the high quality of food and staff that I've experienced before. Thank you for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback, and I’m genuinely sorry that your recent visit fell so far short of the standard you quite rightly expect from us.As a customer who has been visiting The Crown for a number of years — and travelling a considerable distance to do so — it’s particularly disappointing to hear that this experience did not reflect the high quality of food and service you’ve previously enjoyed. Please be assured that this is not the level we aim to deliver, and very much a one-off rather than the norm.I apologise for the confusion around table reservations on arrival. While tables may be reserved for later bookings, we fully appreciate that customers dining earlier should be accommodated comfortably wherever possible, and I’m sorry this was not handled better on the day.Your comments regarding the roast dinner, extra potatoes, and the cowboy burger are concerning, and I agree that this does not represent good value or presentation. Likewise, the delays with desserts and the lack of communication or apology from staff is unacceptable.This feedback has been shared with both our kitchen and front-of-house teams so we can address these issues directly and ensure they do not happen again.
