My friends and I visited the On Off Coffee Shop – Khurais Branch Riyadh. We really loved the place, the atmosphere was cozy, and most of the staff were friendly and polite. Unfortunately, our experience was negatively affected by the cashier on duty. While we were waiting in line, we noticed that this staff member seemed to give an unfriendly and unwelcoming impression to everyone in the queue. When it was our turn to order, he did not greet us or ask for our order. Instead, he simply looked away and waited for us to speak first, which felt very unprofessional. When my friend asked for a hot matcha, which was listed on the menu, he responded abruptly with, “No have.” We then asked about another option, and again he replied, “No have,” in the same manner while appearing irritated and avoiding eye contact. Because of the uncomfortable and unwelcoming atmosphere, we ended up ordering only a hot Americano with ice cream without even taking time to browse the menu further. The way he handed us our receipt also felt dismissive, as if he wanted us to leave immediately. Additionally, while speaking to customers, he repeatedly tapped and knocked on the card terminal, which made the interaction even more uncomfortable. There was no greeting, smile, thank you, or any basic customer service courtesy throughout the entire transaction. What made the experience more disappointing was that we later learned that this cashier, named Matravi, is apparently the supervisor of the café. If that is the case, I hope management addresses this issue, as his behavior does not reflect the welcoming image that the café otherwise projects. I would also like to recognize the other staff members, who were kind, polite, and professional. Kudos to them for their excellent service. It is unfortunate because the café itself is a great place, but one employee’s attitude can significantly impact the customer experience and the reputation of the business.
