Had a nice brunch here to celebrate my Dad’s 68th birthday! Service was wonderful and the food was delicious. The hotel offers a discounted rate for valet parking with validation, but I took an Uber since I live down the street. We appreciated the complimentary scones to start the meal that were delicious, and had all 3 offered entrees- the Seafood Udon with Lobster, Steak, and Salmon Salad. They brought out a beautifully decorated cupcake for my Dad’s Birthday. The ocean view from the patio is gorgeous. Thank you! I’ll be back! Straight talk: Saturday, May 6th a friend and I met up for drinks at Henry's to enjoy the pleasantries of the beach and cocktails. We arrived around 2:30pm and sat outside at the table bar, ordering drinks and appetizers. An hour later it got chilly and windy so we moved over from the bar to the lounge area. 5 minutes into our conversation, my friend suggested staying for dinner. We quickly scanned the dining area, for an open table with a heat lamp. At that time, 2 tables were being occupied. Table 1: a white family seated for 6-8 collecting the check and their belongings and the other table was occupied by an elderly white couple. As soon as we sat in the dining area, Tony McCarthy the Cuisine GM approached us to inform us that the dining area was for guests that plan to eat dinner. Pointing to the lounge area, saying that we could sit over there unless we plan to eat dinner. Proceeded with, "we are fully booked with dinner reservations." My friend quickly interjected his lecture - adding that we intended to remain for dinner. He then said, our guest don't normally sit themselves down to eat but I can make an exception and bring you menus, if you want to stay. ??? Feeling very uncomfortable, I quickly said yes to bring us menu's. As soon as he left, I told my friend that I felt very unwelcome and uncomfortable by his hostility approach. She felt the same. He came back and I couldn't help but take a picture of his name tag so that I could write this review. This infuriate him. This is my truth, had I been seated with my husband or a white man, I know that the situation would have been handled differently. Despite the fact that both my friend and I are successful and educated, we were ostracized. Is it because we are women, short women, Mexican women, wearing urban street wear, showing sleeve tattoos that openly support the LGBTQ community? For whatever the reason, this should have never happened. Think twice about supporting Henry's Coastal Cuisine in Huntington Beach, CA.
